The Deepal S05 has secured the top position in the Pure Electric SUV segment of the J.D. Power 2026 China Quality Study, reinforcing its standing in the competitive EV space.
The model ranked highest in the J.D. Power NEV Initial Quality Study (IQS), widely regarded as one of the most credible benchmarks for evaluating electric vehicle quality in China’s rapidly evolving market.
Launched roughly a year ago, the S05 has already recorded close to 200,000 unit sales across more than 70 countries, including Nepal, making it one of China’s most successful exported EVs.
This latest recognition is expected to further strengthen consumer confidence in the Deepal brand, particularly in Nepal, where the S05 has been gaining traction.
In terms of dimensions, the S05 measures 4.62 metres in length and features a 2.88-metre wheelbase, positioning it firmly within the midsize SUV segment. It is available globally in both Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) configurations. In the Nepali market, the SUV is equipped with a 99 kW electric motor paired with a 56.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering a WLTP-certified range of 405 km.
The J.D. Power NEV IQS remains one of the most comprehensive quality assessments in the Chinese automotive industry. The 2026 study was based on feedback from 21,177 vehicle owners across 81 cities, covering 137 models from 49 brands.
Responses were collected from customers who had owned their vehicles for two to six months, providing insights into real-world ownership experiences. At a time when the industry is grappling with rising complexity in software systems and ADAS features, the S05’s top ranking underscores its strong engineering execution and product reliability.
